Special Olympics offers training and competition opportunities in 30 Olympic-type sports for athletes 8 years or older.  For children with intellectual disabilities ages 2 through 7, Special Olympics provides a Young Athletes Program. Special Olympics coaches have a unique opportunity to work with athletes in competitive situations to assist in their training for life. As a grass-roots organization, Special Olympics relies on volunteers at all levels of the movement to ensure that every athlete is offered a quality sports training and competition experience. Individual donors, corporate partners and many others make it possible for Special Olympics to offer children and adults with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy through participation in the program.

Senior Manager, Corporate Partnerships
Reports to:  Vice President, Corporate Partnerships 
Location: This position is located in Washington, DC.
Department: Development

Position Summary: The Senior Manager Corporate Partnerships will report to the Vice President of Corporate Partnerships and is responsible for the fulfillment of all multi-national partnership agreements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1.  Responsible for stewardship and fulfillment of contracted rights and benefits, reporting ROI of benefits delivered and where the money went to help fulfill SOI’s mission.
  2. Work with SOI programmatic initiatives for packaging and fulfilling sponsor proprietary elements.
  3. Serve as primary liaison to GOC, Regions, USLC, FDC for SOI.
  4. Produce event/program and year-end reports for all sponsorship accounts.
  5. Update/maintain master guidelines and best practices for communication movement-wide.
  6. Work closely with legal department to oversee required registration procedures of promotions and sponsorship contracts.
  7. Implement multi-state/national fund-raising and promotional projects.
  8. Work with the Regions to develop information, instruction, coordination and implementation materials for Special Olympics regions and US Programs, Managing Directors, and Organizing committees for World Games.
  9. Serve as Primary liaison to GOC and Regions for SOI.

Qualifications:

  1. College degree
  2. 5+  years related experience and proven track record in corporate sponsorship sales/marketing promotions
  3. Experience recruiting, motivating and managing volunteers
  4. Strong communications and presentation skills
  5. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and writing skills
  6. Experience with Special Olympics programs and/or administration helpful
  7. Regular attendance required

Director, Corporate Partnerships
Reports to:  Vice President, Corporate Partnerships 
Location: This position is located in Washington, DC.

Position Summary: The Director of Corporate Partnerships will report to the Vice President of Corporate Partnerships and is responsible for fundraising from corporate foundations and sports associations to support Special Olympics.

Primary Responsibilities:
The Director of Corporate Partnerships will initiate and develop revenue-generating relationships with corporations, corporate foundations and associations whose interests intersect with Special Olympics' programming areas, and is responsible for program fundraising and stewardship.

  • Report to Vice President, Corporate Partnerships
Overall: Responsible for helping to secure new and/or upsell existing global and multi-national partnerships
  • Identify/track sponsorship prospects and existing relationships for upselling
  • Conduct research internally (e.g., track size and scope of current US Programs and/or regional relationships that have potential to expand nationally, internationally or globally
  • Prepare sales or renewal presentations for the strongest top-tier prospects
  • Provide support for as well as participate in collaborative sales sessions with prospective top-tier partners and/or their agencies
  • Provide sales support to regions and U.S. Programs with partnerships that have the potential to grow country-wide, region-wide or internationally. Sales support includes targeted research, tailored
  • Provide support for as well as conduct negotiations and prepare agreements for new relationships as well as renewal on existing relationships
