Oscar Mejia Special Olympics Guatemala

Oscar Mejia, Special Olympics Guatemala Oscar Mejia, 39, is funny, friendly, hardworking and very responsible. He is one of 10 sons. Over the years, Mejia, who trains and competes in athletics and football (soccer) has amassed what he describes as "the biggest pride of all his life:" 43 medals (30 gold, seven silver and six bronze), and has attended several Special Olympics World Games. His personality and public speaking skills helped him become a Global Messenger and a member of the Board of Directors of Special Olympics Guatemala. Mejia participated in the Athlete Congress in Puerto Rico and the Athlete Leadership Seminar in Peru. In his spare time, he coaches a basketball team composed of 12-year-olds in his community.
