Special Olympics offers training and competition opportunities in 30 Olympic-type sports for athletes 8 years or older.  For children with intellectual disabilities ages 2 through 7, Special Olympics provides a Young Athletes Program. Special Olympics coaches have a unique opportunity to work with athletes in competitive situations to assist in their training for life. As a grass-roots organization, Special Olympics relies on volunteers at all levels of the movement to ensure that every athlete is offered a quality sports training and competition experience. Individual donors, corporate partners and many others make it possible for Special Olympics to offer children and adults with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy through participation in the program.

Enjoy Special Holiday Sounds and Support Special Olympics

Since 1987, countless top recording artists, labels and music publishers have come together to offer a variety of seasonal material for the successful "A Very Special Christmas" series of holiday music. The proceeds from sales of these albums benefit Special Olympics.

A Very Special Christmas Playlist Plus

This year, the new Playlist Plus Collection combines three of the six CDs in the series: Volumes 2 and 3, and A Very Special Acoustic Christmas. Each CD showcases a variety of talent and musical styles with one thing in common: great holiday music.

Disc One – A Very Special Christmas 2 – includes Christmas classics from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Randy Travis, Luther Vandross, Jon Bon Jovi, Aretha Franklin, Michael Bolton and Vanessa Williams.

Disc Two – A Very Special Christmas 3 – features your favorite Christmas hits from Sting, The Smashing Pumpkins, Snoop Doggy Dogg, Salt N’ Pepa, No Doubt, Sheryl Crow, Enya, Chris Cornell With Eleven, Mary J. Blige, Dave Matthews and Tracy Chapman.

Disc Three – A Very Special Acoustic Christmas – offers a special acoustic Christmas session from Reba McEntire, Willie Nelson, Alan Jackson, Alison Krauss, Wynonna and Norah Jones.

Since the inception of the series, sales of A Very Special Christmas CDs and DVDs have raised more then $100 million for Special Olympics. The Special Olympics Christmas Record Grant Program disburses these proceeds as grants for worthwhile and innovative initiatives that encourage growth, enhance services, or provide creative new ways to advance the Special Olympics movement around the world.
