Special Olympics offers training and competition opportunities in 30 Olympic-type sports for athletes 8 years or older. For children with intellectual disabilities ages 2 through 7, Special Olympics provides a Young Athletes Program. Special Olympics coaches have a unique opportunity to work with athletes in competitive situations to assist in their training for life. As a grass-roots organization, Special Olympics relies on volunteers at all levels of the movement to ensure that every athlete is offered a quality sports training and competition experience. Individual donors, corporate partners and many others make it possible for Special Olympics to offer children and adults with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy through participation in the program.

Be a fan of Special Olympics

"Be a fan™" is a fully integrated marketing campaign that sends a powerful message, tapping into core values and attributes that everyone can appreciate - unity, acceptance, empowerment, dignity, courage, strength, pride, confidence and fun. The campaign is designed to reach out to a broad audience of potential participants in Special Olympics, including young people, donors and volunteers, establishing and deepening the relevance of Special Olympics to them. The "Be a fan" campaign messages help people understand that if they are fans of positive attributes such as dignity, pride, joy, acceptance, inclusion, determination, respect, then they are fans of Special Olympics.

If you are interested in receiving "Be a fan" advertising materials for placement in print, broadcast, outdoor or online media, contact Ryan Eades at +1 (202) 824-0292 or reades@specialolympics.org.
