Description

Special Olympics East Asia is composed of 5 accredited Programs: Special Olympics China, Special Olympics Chinese Taipei, Special Olympics Hong Kong, Special Olympics Korea and Special Olympics Macau. The total number of athletes in the region reached 868,112 according to 2008 census, an increase of 10.7% over the previous year of 774,929. In 2007, the 12th Special Olympics World Summer Games was held in Shanghai, China, with active participation of approximately 1600 athletes from the region.
